Inhotim holds a precious collection of contemporary art as well as a large botanical treasure. There the environment lives in harmony with art, and both are the basis of wide-reaching education actions of a social nature. The Tropical Park has areas which were developed along the guidelines suggested by famed landscape artist Roberto Burle Marx. The enormous variety of plants at Inhotim make it one of the largest botanical collections in the world, with rare tropical species and a forest reserve which is part of the Atlantic Forest biome. 4. Belo Horizonte’s Central Market is known as a reference point for the population of the metropolis, being characterized as an eminently eclectic space. Located in the hyper-center of the city, the market has enchanted its visitors since 1929. Mercado Central is one of the main tourist attractions in Belo Horizonte with lots of history, regional foods and handicraft from many regions of the state. There are over 400 stores that carry everything from groceries of top quality to typical products like the local cheese, sweets and preserves, arts and crafts, medicinal herbs and roots, pet animals, and even lottery tickets. Many people usually stop by the most popular bars to taste the famous appetizers and drink a very cold beer. A mixture of tradition and memory with the aspects of modern life, the Central Marketplace is more than a big fair or supplies center: it's a relaxing and socializing space.
